RHYD DDU

Forest trail with spectacular backdrop

A quiet forest trail beneath Mynydd Mawr, the Rhyd Ddu forest track provides fabulous walks throughout the year. Affording stunning views of Snowdon, this track is a section of the Slate Trail that takes you through pretty woodland to Llyn Cwellyn where water loving doggies can swim. It is possible to create a walk of any duration here. The walk to the lake and back, allowing time for swimming, takes around 2 hours but by turning around at the high point of the route, I can take a stroll of 1 hour.

There are few better places from which to admire Snowdon than the various viewpoints along this wonderful trail. It’s a great choice in bad weather as the trees provide shelter from the wind and rain. In the winter months, it is relatively common to encounter snowy ground which many doggies love. Rainy weather creates numerous pools to the side of the trail which deliver amazing fun for any dogs that enjoy playing in the water.
