TREFOR

Pretty harbour with small sandy beach

Located beneath Yr Eifl (The Rivals) on the Llŷn Peninsula, Trefor boasts a peaceful harbour and small sandy beach. The parking area is close to the beach and so Trefor is a great destination for short outings. It’s ideal for older dogs that prefer to mooch around on sand or to paddle. But it can also be a good choice for canine swimmers. Longer walks over the cliffs are possible but involve traversing grassy areas where sheep graze.

There’s a relaxing feel here as the beach attracts few visitors outside of the summer holidays. A walk along the harbour wall affords lovely views of the coast including the colourful boats moored in the harbour.

Did you know that the Trefor Granite Quarry delivered granite of such rare quality that it has been used to produce curling stones for the Olympics? Trefor is one of only two locations where such granite is found, the other is in Scotland.
